Why not come out into the fresh air, lend a hand in our wild food fields, learn a bit about gardening and nature and how we can use it for the wellbeing of our bodies and in other ways, and if you’re learning Welsh or need to build your confidence in the language, take the opportunity to practise your Welsh in good company, with the support of a professional Welsh tutor? In our sessions, we’ll be bringing together gardening, nature, workshops and the Welsh language in a practical and relaxed way. As we help clear and prepare the land, grow and look after wild crops and do all sorts of other things, there’ll be an opportunity in every session to learn more about a whole range of things and, naturally, alongside that, to use Welsh.
We’ll start with some vocabulary connected to the work, the names of plants and some useful language patterns for a short while, before moving on to actually getting stuck in and doing things. From there, we’ll let the conversation flow naturally as we work together.
There’s a warm welcome for fluent Welsh speakers who want to get more familiar with nature and gardening vocabulary, and for anyone who is happy to support learners in using their Welsh. Learners of all levels are welcome too – your Welsh doesn’t have to be perfect. It can be no more than “a paned” and “dw i’n hoffi coffi”! The important thing is to come along, have a go and enjoy using the language.

There are plenty of different things to do and learn. We might be building hugel beds, clearing stones, learning how to make natural fibres, gathering wild food and cooking it, or looking more closely at different aspects of the natural world.
When it comes to the language, these activities give you a natural opportunity to use new vocabulary and have conversations in Welsh – without the pressure of a formal classroom. It’s a great way to build confidence, make new friends and use your Welsh outside the classroom.
And if you’re interested in nature and how we can use it, or in gardening, this is your opportunity to join in as much as you want. Learn about the wild plants of our area, what you can eat and how to prepare it, make things to use for the body, and have a bit of space to be creative.
But it isn’t all about learning a language or gardening. The sessions are also a chance to step away from the madness of everyday life. To get your hands in the soil, breathe in the fresh air, learn something new and spend some time in good company.
So, if you’re a fluent Welsh speaker who wants to use more natural vocabulary, or you’re a learner looking for a different way to practise your Welsh – come along and give it a go.

Nothing comes to Ennyd complete, everything is on its own path, in motion, some transformation, and falls into its new form. The land itself reminds us, teaches us that nothing is constant, only change. Natur a'i ddefnydd — nature and its uses — is something that fascinates me endlessly, and I find it almost impossible not to wonder at something every day, whether it's the glowing orange-red of the egroes against the deep purple-black of the eirin bach, an old story, a forgotten use, or some tiny creature I have walked past a hundred times without stopping for an ennyd to say 'Hello' and learn from it.
